David Stern, you got your wish.
The Spurs are gone, and now the Pistons have joined them.
What an exciting NBA Finals it will be! Surely, a feel-good story featuring a team that has risen from the ashes and a team that is just finding its niche- and with everyone’s favorite MVP!
Just like old times, right? Celtics and Lakers at it once again, after all these years. Since the Pistons have already played the Lakers in the Finals and everyone is sick of seeing the Spurs, I guess it really was time …

“All that bull[expletive]-ass calls they had out there. With Mike [Callahan] and Kenny [Mauer] — you’ve all seen that [expletive],” Wallace said. “You saw them calls. The cats are flopping all over the floor and they’re calling that [expletive]. That [expletive] ain’t basketball out there. It’s all [expletive] entertainment. You all should know that [expletive]. It’s all [expletive] entertainment.”
Call me crazy, but as much as Sheed runs his mouth, he’s right.

… Dice was everywhere.
Hitting open jumpers, grabbing gritty offensive boards, and diving for loose balls- there was a win to be had and Antonio McDyess wasn’t soon going to let it slip away.
Finishing the night with a huge 21 points and 16 rebounds, Antonio once again showed his priceless worth to a team that often searches for a leader.
“You only have so many opportunities, and they’re limited, especially for me,” [McDyess] said. “I’m at the end of my career, and I just feel like leaving everything out on the …

At the Pistons’ shootaround Tuesday morning, Saunders was asked a standard question about what he planned to do while filling out the active roster for Game 1, and the coach gave his standard answer:
“Joe [Dumars] and I will talk about it,” Flip Saunders said.
After the chat, the Pistons decided to activate little-used forward Amir Johnson, who gives the team more depth in the frontcourt, and deactivate guard Juan Dixon, forward Walter Herrmann and rookie Cheikh Samb.
Johnson did not play in Game 1, as Saunders went to a nine-man rotation.
But just …

BOSTON (AP)- Paul Pierce returned home and made sure the Celtics would play there again.Boston’s captain scored 41 points, hit two clinching free throws with 7.9 seconds left and led the team with the NBA’s best regular season record to a 97-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday in Game 7 for a spot in the Eastern Conference finals.
That round begins Tuesday night against the Detroit Pistons in the same arena where the Celtics have won 14 straight games and are 8-0 in the postseason. Home teams are 22-2 …

“I didn’t guarantee a win,” [Nelson] said. “I didn’t say, ‘we’re going to …’ I said ‘we have to go win, we’re going to come get this win.’ And the media took it out of proportion or whatever they want to do. The media always wants a story. I mean, I really don’t care what people write, you know?”
If you take his words literally, Nelson is fibbing: he did predict a win. It wasn’t manufactured by the media. He didn’t use the word “guarantee,” but his exact words were, “We’re …

If this has offended any of the Magic fans that DO have class, I apologize in advance. If you see these guys walking around, tell them they’re making all of you look bad.
After seeing this debacle from a “professional” newspaper’s website, I can officially state that the Orlando Sentinel has no class either.
All photos are from the Orlando Sentinel’s website.
A bit over the top if you ask me, hard to believe a “professional” newspaper would publish this on their “professional” website.
Ehh, I’d say about $10,000 since that’s what I saw …

“I’m not trying to be arrogant or cocky or anything like that,” said Nelson after the Magic fell to the Pistons 90-89 Saturday in Game 4. “But tonight, we let it slip out of our hands. Game 2 we let slip out of our hands.”
“We’re going to win this game in Detroit.”

All courtesy a 15-0 run and a clutch shot from Mr. Prince.
And apparently, the Magic are already counting themselves out of this series.
Why? Because of the “blame game” runaround they gave after the game. It was an Orlando contest to see who could take the most blame, and I’m not too sure I can declare a pure winner out of all of it. But one thing is for sure, they walked off that court with their heads down, a coach’s anti-cardinal rule, and are already getting ready for a sad, …

“Rashard! We’re not gonna get swept! Piggyback ride!”
Thus, the attitude after a Game 3 win over the Detroit Pistons.
First off, let me start by saying that Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis have some of the poorest shot selection that I’ve ever seen in the NBA. Unfortunately, they were falling again.
Don’t chalk this up as a Pistons failure, remember it as another ridiculous display of knocking down the long ball by the Orlando Magic. Detroit made a valiant effort at a comeback and nearly pulled it off until the barrage of …

Ahh, the playoffs are in the air and we already have postseason “controversy” running amok.
Was Chauncey’s 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in the 3rd in time? Eventually it was deemed no, but unofficially. Considering the officials on the court can’t use instant replay for time-related issues, Chauncey was awared the 3-ball and the Pistons took a 78-76 lead going into the 4th.
Here it is in case you missed it:

NEW YORK (TICKER) —Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups on Monday was named the winner of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. The award, named after the second commissioner of the league, honors an NBA player or coach for outstanding service and dedication to the community.
Billups won the award for his charity work in Detroit and his hometown of Denver.
“It’s a great award,” Billups said Monday. “The thing about doing stuff like that, doing charity work and having a big heart, you never do it for the accolades. You do it for …

Well whaddaya know? The Pistons came through after all.
No big first round upset this year. No trade demands, no coaching changes, and no depressing, reminiscent talk of Pistons’ past. Yet.
The Detroit Pistons live to see another day, and they did it in powerful fashion with an utter annihalation of the Philadelphia 76ers on the Sixers’ home court. We saw, once again, the Pistons that can win any, and I mean any, game when they decide to “turn it on.”
The question is: can they keep that intensity switch on? Or will …

The series is not over. Not officially. Not mathematically. Not in a clean- out-the-lockers- and-exchange-off-season-phone-numbers kind of way. But it is over, at least if the Detroit Pistons want it to be over, which is always a question worth asking. Judging by last night, however, they are ready to dismiss the young Philadelphia 76ers with its young legs and its fresh ideas about what this postseason might bring.
The Pistons played with sporadic enthusiasm in the first four games of the series, and the 76ers took advantage enough to earn a …

The heroic Pistons are back once again! You know, the ones we like to watch, not the ones we grimaced at a couple nights ago.
Just in time too, because their seemingly imminent self-destruction was not boding well around Motown.
I was getting scared after the turnover debacle continued through the first half last night, but the second half arrived with the 59-win Pistons team that I’ve been watching all year- the team that was not only playoff-seasoned, but also title-hungry.
Tayshaun. Prince. Talk about stepping up under pressure. Tay missed only a …

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Pistons forward Antonio McDyess returned to Detroit on Saturday and had surgery to repair the broken nose he suffered in Game 3 of their playoff series with Philadelphia.
Pistons coach Flip Saunders said McDyess’ availability for Sunday’s Game 4 would depend on how he felt after surgery. McDyess was injured Friday in the third quarter of Detroit’s 95-75 loss to the 76ers.
