ORL: 111, DET: 86 – And The Rain Did Fall

“Rashard! We’re not gonna get swept! Piggyback ride!”
Thus, the attitude after a Game 3 win over the Detroit Pistons.
First off, let me start by saying that Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis have some of the poorest shot selection that I’ve ever seen in the NBA. Unfortunately, they were falling again.
Don’t chalk this up as a Pistons failure, remember it as another ridiculous display of knocking down the long ball by the Orlando Magic. Detroit made a valiant effort at a comeback and nearly pulled it off until the barrage of treys rained down like hellfire. I highly doubt Stan Van Gundy uses a coach’s clipboard, because it’s really not that hard to say “Rashard” and “three-pointer”.
If you’re not a fan of ref rants, block this part out because it’s coming whether you like it or not.
We know NBA referees have a beef, so to speak, with Sheed. This is known by every man, woman and child who ever set eyes on a “professional” basketball game. But out of the woodwork surfaces a new vendetta, the all-seeing eyes shift to focus on not only #36, but #24 as well. The reffing on McDyess alone should call for another referee investigation. I realize the Magic are a finesse team, but that doesn’t mean that every time they take the initiative to break the 20-foot barrier, that a foul needs to be assessed to the opposing team. 4 fouls on Dice in 14 minutes of gameplay? Come on, have a heart! Like losing Chauncey to injury wasn’t bad enough, the Pistons were robbed of their hardest worker on top of that.
Sharp shooting, Orlando. You got your home win. But don’t count on that 3-point bull****, I mean skill, to fall for much longer.
P.S. After only 3 games, I am officially sick of “Superman”, “Clark Kent”, “Kryptonite”, and every other comic book reference TNT and Orlando fans have thrown. If I see one more middle-aged woman hold up a sign tell me that Dwight Howard is “Pistonite” I don’t know what I’ll do. Just FYI.

ok. so i know Hedo may mot have a perfect shooting average but neither does anyone else-not even the legendary Michael (Air) Jordan-thats no dissing of MJ though, he was the reason i started my 13 year basketball career-mind you i am almost 16. i also happen to know that Hedo is very intelligent and knows a lot about the game of basketball. now i have never consulted with Rashard but i have met Hedo and in talking to him i realized that when you have someone who has a higher shooting average vs one with better all-around great basketball skills that the one with the more versitile skills is more importand because they are the ones who make the difference. Hedo is an extremely versatile player and he is very important to the Orlando Magic. look at his main position for instance, it is a small forward. he stands 6′ 10″ and weighs 220lbs. that is not your average small forward. he plays that position because he knows what needs to be done and how to do it. he has more than potential-because he is good enough. and maybe it isnt that he has poor shot selection. maybe he just knows how to show people what he is capable of without being mr. hot-shot. he is mr. 4th quarter for a reason. when things are going astray he can get the game back into the hands of the Magic. both he and Rashard Lewis are helpful in that way.
