Tayshaun just wants to play

You can bet Tayshaun Prince will not be one of them.

The 6-foot-9 forward has been one of the league’s most durable players as he enters the game with more consecutive starts (346) than any active player.

Prince is well aware of the streak, but said after Monday’s practice that it is not something he believes is that important.

“What’s important to me is that I go out there and play every game to help my teammates win,” Prince said. “It’s not about setting a record or anything like that.”

Prince understands that while he figures to start all nine of Detroit’s remaining regular-season games, his playing time likely will take a significant dip.

The idea of playing fewer minutes does not bother Prince. But sitting on the bench during games, even when the Pistons are winning, is not something he enjoys.

“That’s just me. Hopefully these nine games go by fast so I can get back to the normal situation,” Prince said. “But I know what it’s about now.”
