Primoz Brezec Just Wants to Play (…Man)
Primoz Brezec claims he did not hold anything back in his first conversation with Toronto Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo.”
The first thing I said to Bryan was, ‘Listen Bryan, man, I’m not coming there to sit on the bench, I can tell you right now,’ ” Brezec said Sunday, three days after Toronto acquired the 7-foot-1 centre from Detroit in exchange for little-used guard Juan Dixon. ” ‘I would rather go home to Slovenia and sit my ass on a beach or at home and be with my family. I’m not sitting on the bench no more, man. I can’t do that no more.’
“He said, ‘Listen, you’re going to get a shot.’ I said, ‘That’s all I need. A shot. I’ll show you what I can do. If I don’t do anything, I’ll sub myself out of the game. It’s that easy.’ ”

“I was just a spectator [in Detroit],” said Brezec, who should play for the Raptors for the first time against New York on Sunday (6 p.m., Air Canada Centre). “I’ve been a starter in this league. I know I can play, and I’m going to help this team win some games.”
Well, Primoz might just get his wish after all. I don’t know how much playing time this “chance” will get him, but it will sure be more than he was getting in Detroit.
Don’t forget- Brezec averaged almost 13 points per game from 2004-2006 with the Bobcats, should be a bit of an upgrade from Rasho Nesterovic. And after what the Raptors did for Carlos Delfino, I would expect bigger and better things from Primoz Brezec.
NOTE: Brezec went 5-5 for 11 points, had 3 rebounds, and 1 block in his Raptors debut last Sunday.
