Pistons Send Brezec to Raptors for Dixon
The Detroit Pistons added backcourt depth Thursday, acquiring guard Juan Dixon from the Toronto Raptors for center Primoz Brezec in a swap of reserve players. The deal was completed minutes before Thursday’s 3 p.m. EST deadline for NBA trades.
Dixon, 29, played sparingly in 36 games with the Raptors this season, averaging just 4.3 points and 1.8 assists in just under 12 minutes per contest.
A first-round draft selection in 2002, Dixon likely will battle Lindsey Hunter and rookie Rodney Stuckey for bench minutes behind All-Stars Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton.
“We are pleased to add Juan Dixon to our roster,” Pistons president Joe Dumars said. “We feel Juan will add quality depth at the guard position both offensively and defensively.”
