Pistons Narrowly Avoid Record

According to the Macomb Daily, the Pistons were a bucket away from setting a new low in total points within the shot clock era. Thankfully, Amir Johnson completed a 3-point play to avoid it.

Johnson’s dunk and free throw with 13.4 seconds left against the normally hapless New York Knicks saved the Pistons from an ignominious place in the record book.

The Pistons’ record for fewest points is 64, set in 1999 against San Antonio and equaled in 2005 against Utah.

“I don’t know any of that stuff,” Chauncey Billups said. “For real? I know it was as ugly as it’s been since I’ve been here. We had to be flirting with something. Good job, Amir.”

The Pistons did set a record for fewest points in a third quarter – 10. Their 30.7 percent shooting was easily the worst of this season.

Let’s hope the Pistons can get back on their feet for tomorrow’s game against the Raptors.
