Mavs Light Up Pistons; 102-86

dirk-nowitzki-rasheed-wallace-1-10-08.jpgThe Mavs shot the lights out Wednesday night, making 57% of the shots they attempted. The Pistons have now lost two straight after falling to the Celtics Saturday night.

The only plus-side of the night was seeing the Celtics lose to the Bobcats in Boston. Paul Pierce went a horrific 1-9 from downtown and missed 10 of his 14 overall attempts. I didn’t see much jersey-popping when the Celts walked off the floor with their tails between their legs.

Now that my Boston cheap shot has been taken:

ppbullet2.pngThe Mavs really did shoot the lights out. Nowitzki, Harris, Terry, and just about every other Maverick couldn’t miss a shot. Who can complain when you drop 10 of 16 from deep?

From my pre-game:

Devin Harris and Josh Howard have also elevated their games in the past weeks, and Eric Dampier has done surprisingly well and will be a tough cover on both ends of the floor. As usual, Jason “The Jet” Terry can be deadly from outside and must be closely guarded from the perimeter.

Devin Harris picked the Pistons apart and Eric Dampier had 3 blocks and hit all three of shots, breaking a Mavs record at 14 consecutive field goals made. Jason Terry was indeed deadly from outside, hitting all three from behind the arc.

ppbullet2.pngRip was Mr. Consistency once again, 9-18 for 18 points.

ppbullet2.pngWalter Herrmann played incredible defense on Dirk Nowitzki. Over the course of the game, Nowitzki went 10-15 from the field and I believe he was 0-4 when Walter was guarding him.

ppbullet2.pngDetroit is still shooting well from 3-point land, although this time is somewhat moderation. They hit six out of 12.

ppbullet2.pngSheed brought the goods on D- 11 boards, 3 blocks.

ppbullet2.pngDevin Harris may soon be joining Anderson Varejao and Manu Ginobili as one of the flopping elite in the NBA.

Pistons-Spurs; Tonight at 8:00 p.m.

Pistons looked sluggish. I thought they’d be more pumped up for a top-5 team. The media prejudice against the Pistons is showing. They make a 2-game losing streak look like the season is over.

They were sluggish, as well as impatient to get the ball inside. They settled for way too many outside jumpers, and that’s never good on a night when you shoot barely 40%.
