Pistons Fall to Jazz 93-103, Saunders Ejected
The Pistons dropped a tough one Sunday afternoon, once again playing without the likes of Sheed. The Jazz were pretty relentless, Carlos Boozer in particular.
Boozer had a season-high 36 points on a ridiculous 17-20 shooting night. He was killing the Stones from almost every part of the floor. He also grabbed 11 boards.
Flip Saunders was ejected in the 3rd quarter for picking up a pair of techs. Detroit seemed to be the victim of an awful lot of no-calls on drives to the hoop. Terry Porter did a good job filling in for Flip, but the Pistons just couldn’t get the shots to fall near the end of the game.
Nazr did an amazing job filling in the rebounding void in Sheed’s absence. He pulled down 14 boards in just 17 minutes of playing time.
I’m still amazed at how quickly Deron Williams has evolved into the leader and scorer that he has become. His numbers tell all- 21 points and 14 assists.
Dyess is really stepping up when he’s needed, which is a lot these days. He’s not afraid to take the open J at the top of the key.
Finally, Detroit doesn’t lose a rebound battle, but they didn’t win either. They tied the Jazz 42-42.
Sheed’s presence was greatly missed, as seen by the success of Carlos Boozer. Detroit has been plagued by minor injuries so far this season, hopefully this trend doesn’t keep up.
The Pistons have an Eastern Conference Finals rematch against the Cavs Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
