Shorthanded Pistons Fall in L.A., 91-103
The Pistons, minus Chauncey and Dyess, dropped an ugly one to the Lakers Friday night.
The game was hard to watch, especially in the 4th quarter when it seemed like Detroit wanted to turn the ball over. The Lakers only shot 38% on the night, but their offensive rebounding and the Pistons’ lazy passing led to a W.
Lamar Odom tore it up, dropping 25 and grabbing 15 boards. Pretty good considering he’s only been back a couple games.
The matchup between Kobe and Rip was the most exciting matchup I’ve seen this year. They were hacking and boxing each other out the entire game. Kobe won the points battle by a hair and Rip lost 5 turnovers.
The absence of Chauncey Billups really showed in the 4th, the Pistons looked lost without their starting PG running the show.
Lindsey Hunter played 6 minutes and committed 3 turnovers. I’m all for role-players, but I don’t think there’s too much of a positive impact there.
Odom literally passed the ball to a ref in the 4th quarter, the ball would’ve gone out of bounds had it not hit the official. It wasn’t a crucial blunder, but the 2 points resulting kept the Lakers’ in the game and kept the momentum high. Refs need to be more alert to potential interferences. Not to be nitpicky or anything…
I guess Phil Jackson has fully recovered from his Brokeback Mountain reference.
