Sheed’s Time To Shine

sheed3.jpgI’m sure the majority of you have heard that Sheed dropped 25 pounds during the offseason. Gone are the days when we have to watch slowly stride down the court, just crossing halfcourt when the rest of the team is at the perimeter. I can only hope that the 25 pounds he shed this summer will lead to a faster, more explosive Sheed- the one we saw in the title run of 2004. I can only pray that I get to witness some of those insane alley-oops and thunder dunks that I see so much in his Portland highlights. Rasheed now weighs in at around 225-230 (Newly drafted Joakim Noah is 6’11″ too and weighs 230- to give you an idea) and Joe Dumars has stated that he sees much of the same explosiveness in Wallace now that he saw when he was traded to Detroit.

But Sheed’s weight loss isn’t the only improvement. He has also successfully made an effort to achieve a better relationship with Flip Saunders- a quality of Sheed’s that has rarely (if ever) been shown in his career. Although entertaining, Rasheed and Flip’s little confrontations didn’t help much of anything for themselves or the rest of the team. The 2007-2008 season really shows some promise for the man wearing 36…

P.S. – I sure hope I get to see some of this again REALLY soon:
